Shanghai Express Chinese Restaurant Marlton, NJ

Last Friday night I had dinner with my best friend Bob at Shanghai Express in the Meeting House Shopping Center in Marlton, NJ.

Upon entering, we were greeted by the owners and seated.  Within minutes, hot tea, water, noodles, mustard and duck sauce was delivered to our table.  I love their tea.  The flavor is great and there is no need to add any sweeteners.

We began our meal with Hot and Sour Soup.  It is the perfect mix of sourness and spice.  The broth was hot and tasty.

The next item in our Chinese Feast was the Cold Sesame Noodles.  The dish was topped with chopped scallions.  The noodles were done perfectly.  The sauce was a blend of peanut butter, soy sauce and sesame oil.  One of my favorite dishes at Shanghai Express.

Our main courses were Mooshu Beef and Butterfly Shrimp.  Both are great entrees and as usual Bob and I shared the entrees.  The Mooshu Beef comes with four pancakes and is a mix of shredded beef and vegetables in their special Mooshu sauce.  As usual, I had to roll the wraps as Bob isn't very good at it.

The Butterfly shrimp consists of about 6-8 butterflied shrimp covered in bacon and topped with eggs.  It is one of my favorite non spicy dishes at Shanghai Express.

And as usual, our server made sure we always had water and hot tea.

If you would like to live in this area, please feel free to look for homes at my website.

Get to Know Evesham Township

Get to Know Evesham Township

Years ago, when I still lived in Philadelphia, I remember going with my parents to drive my brother back to Monmouth College in the 60's.  To get there we used to drive down Route 70 through Evesham Township.  I had no idea where weevesh twp bldg were.  It was as though we were driving through the wilderness somewhere.  Check out Evesham from the past (compliments of John Flack, Jr.)

And now, I've been living in Evesham since 1979.  What a change from the 60's.  There many farms operating in the township.  I believe the only operating farm in the township now is the Testa Farm on Elmwood Road.  If you're looking for fresh tomatoes, corn or other trees, bushes, flowers or fruits and vegetables, there's no better place to go for quality and great service.

There are so many great places to shop, like The Promenade, Marlton Crossing and Marlton Square.  Great places for food shopping like Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Genaurdis and Shoprite.  And many upscale shoppes at The Promenade on Route 73.

Where in the 60's, housing costs in Evesham were modest, today you can purchase an executive style home in Tuxedo Court, Ravenscliff or Knightsbridge.  The little town of Marlton has grown up and is a major player in South Jersey real estate.

Get to Know CHerry Hill

Get to Know Cherry Hill, New JerseyCherry Hill Public Library

I moved to Cherry Hill from Philadelphia in December of 1968.  Today's Cherry Hill is much different from the one I got to know in 1968.  There was Wombo's Lunchenette, The Latin Casino, The Cherry Hill Inn, The Ellisburg Circle, The Garden State Race Track......all gone....just memories of years ago.(reprinted from the Cherry Hill Website)

Today, Cherry Hill is a bustling suburb of Philadelphia with lots of shopping, industry and housing.  It is considered by many the HUB of South Jersey.  There's no need to go to Philadelphia to find a great restaurant because there are no shortages of quality restaurants in Cherry Hill.

Housing which used to be expensive compared to surrounding towns is now more affordable.  You can rent a garden style apartment, or buy a condo, townhome or single home in a wide range of prices, from affordable to Oh My Goodness.
